Plus both books were runners-up for Best Lesbian Book! Squee! Thanks to Elisa Rainbow and all the judges. I’m still hard at work on House of Fate, and Widows of the Sun-Moon, sequel to Paladins of the Storm Lord, comes out in January. Busy busy busy! What’s everyone else been up to?
I’m finally home from all my travels! Whew. Had an awesome time at Denver and Houston, though. Met a lot of hot fans. Literally. They were very attractive. And sweaty.
Now I’m back and getting my ass to work. I’ve sent in the final proofs for Coils, which will be coming your way this September.
I’ve had a lot of fun working on this book. It’s a fantasy romance with a comedic twist, which is a new one for me since I’ve never written a straight-up comedy before. I always try to incorporate a bit of comedy into everything I write. (I love me some witty banter.) But this will be the first in which I try to be funny from start to finish. I hope you laugh. Even if you don’t, lie, okay?
I’m also hard at work on House of Fate, my standalone space opera. Another first, it’s a sci-fi romance. I’ve done sci-fi with the Godfall series, but this will be a romance at heart, sort of like The Pyramid Waltz. I’ve discovered I really like yelling, “Lesbians in space!” at Pride events, and after this book comes out, it will be doubly true!
What’s everyone else been up to? Anyone else visit some Pride events in June? Anyone going on vacation this summer? Everyone else hot as balls?
Come see me this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19 for Denver Pride! Bold Strokes will be at booth L17, behind the main stage, across from the library.
Then come see me Saturday, June 25th at Houston Pride! You’ll see our banners flying!
I know everyone is hurting because of Orlando. I am, too. Now more than ever, we need to stand united. I hope you’ll come share in Pride with me and show that whatever happens, you can’t keep us down. Standing strong is what our community does best. 🙂
I did a blog post for Women and Words all about the superpowers in Paladins of the Storm Lord and what my superpower would probably be if I had one. Hint: it’s not pretty, but it does involve soup. You’ll have to go read to find out.
Nest stops in person, Denver Pride on June 18th and 19th, then Houston Pride on June 25th. Hope to see you there.
It also has to do with never giving up, a topic close to my heart.
And if you want to see me in person and ask me about it, I’ll be at the Jewel Book Club in Dallas on Tuesday, May 17th!
Anyone else love book clubs?
It’s time for Paladins of the Storm Lord! *Kermit flail*
Blurb for ya:
Surrounded by dead crewmates, marooned above an unknown planet, the bridge crew of the Atlas awakens from a crash with extraordinary mental abilities. When their most powerful member jettisons their passengers to the planet below, they have an unprecedented opportunity: they can become gods.
Two hundred years later, Lieutenant Cordelia Ross is a paladin serving the Storm Lord, her city’s patron deity. Her faith is absolute until her people are attacked by a native species, harmless creatures turned devious by an unknown hand. Cordelia tries to solve the mystery of their development before they kill anyone else, but the secrets surrounding them are too deep. As orders from the Storm Lord begin to value obedience over integrity, Cordelia wonders whose side her god is really on.

Alas, I am sick again, yo. It makes it hard for me to think. The good news is, before I succumbed to the fug, I sent in my author draft for Widows of the Sun-Moon, the sequel to Paladins of the Storm Lord, which drops next week!
Woo hoo! All during May, I’ll be blog hopping and spreading my funny all across the internet.
Be on the lookout for a new book trailer, too, as soon as my sinuses climb back up where they belong.
I had an awesome time, though. My panel went well.
That’s me showing off my book with Radclyffe, Melissa Brayden, and Rebekah Weatherspoon. We got lots of great questions from our moderator, Ruth Sternglantz as well as the audience. I think it went well. A few new people followed me on Twitter, and if that’s not a sign of success, I don’t know what is! I also got lost at least twice, which also equals success.
More importantly, as the fabulous Georgia Beers put it, it was nice to be seen, to let people know romances between women exist, in all genres. You can find them, you can read them, and as long as you keep buying them, we can keep writing them. It was nice to be able to put that out there at such a large, intimidating venue.
I also got to see a ton of Las Vegas that I’ve never seen before. I already posted most of my pics on Facebook, so be sure to check them out there if you’re not already following me, and why the frick aren’t you following me?!?!
Anyone else been to Vegas? Ever been to a giant convention? Did you get as lost as I did?
