Thank-you letters for rejections. There, I said it. Would you ever write one? Should you? Well, I’ve written a few in my time. Feedback on a manuscript, even though the manuscript was rejected is rare. So, when an agent or an editor takes the time to give actual criticism, I write a thank-you note. Just so you know, though, this does not mean you’ll get some sort of automatic retraction of said rejection. I’ve never had anyone even reply to a thank-you. A thankless thank-you?
